  INTERVIEWING A REALTOR

Before selecting an agent, meet them in person and prepare a list of questions to ask them. To give you a ahead start, here is a list of questions that address most of the important issues.

Buyers and sellers

The agent's background:
· How long have you been an agent?
· How long have you lived in this area?
· What type of property do you specialize in (housing types,       neighborhoods, price ranges)?

The agent's brokerage:
· How long has your office been in business?
· Do you have a partner or assistant to help you?
· What are your brokerage firm's strengths?

The attention factor:
· Do you work full time?
· What times do you work (days, evening, weekends)?
· How many other people are you working with right now?
· How many people can you comfortably work with at the same time?
· Are you planning a vacation in the next few months?

Communication:
· What role should I have in the process?
· How will you keep me informed of progress?

Sellers

If you're selling your home, the first step in the interview process should be prior to the agent visiting your house and answer the following property related questions:

· How much do you think this property is worth?
· What is the likely range on either side of that number?
· How would you market it?
· Have you sold any similar properties recently?
· How should I fix it up to show to buyers?
